25 years in a nutshell
I am proud to celebrate my 25th anniversary as an entrepreneur. Over the past 25 years, DJM has grown into an innovative and leading industrial inkjet company.
We started with Imaje single-jet inkjet technology combined with our first software platform: InkMaile. This platform is still used by many customers today. Shortly afterward, we implemented Domino’s binary inkjet technology and later became a Buskro dealer as well.
With the integration of HP TIJ 3.0 inkjet technology into our InkMailer software, we entered a new market that was largely dominated by Kodak at the time. In one of our projects, we installed 16 printheads on a collator with eight feeder rolls, printing double width. To perfectly synchronize the rolls — which initially had no relationship with each other during startup — we developed our first Logic Controller. By the end of this product’s lifecycle, more than 150 units had been sold worldwide.
After that, we focused on new inkjet technologies and started developing a dedicated recirculating inkjet solution — another important milestone in DJM’s growth.

When HP introduced its new TIJ 4.0 print modules, DJM was among the early adopters. This marked our move into full-color high-speed inkjet printing. Due to the extremely high data throughput required, we developed our new software platform: Kameleon. This controller platform features a unique approach with on-the-fly ripping and scalable RIP architecture.
For more than eight years, we have been printing at speeds up to 800 ft/min (240 m/min), with multiple print modules controlled through a single user interface and multiple RIPs processing data on-the-fly at these speeds.
In addition, we combined Kodak technology with HP C800 full-color print modules and developed Logic Controller 2. This unique solution has been running successfully for many years at various customer sites.
The next step for DJM was reducing our dependency on a single inkjet technology. We therefore developed a 20-inch print system based on twelve Samba printheads, taking DJM to an even higher technological level.
Last year, we received a European Union grant to develop the next generation of inkjet solutions, based on integrating photonic technology into our products. Thanks to our in-house developments, we are making inkjet not only more innovative, but also more reliable. We have now proven that 99% uptime is achievable.
We are now launching our new Logic Controller 3, featuring advanced functionalities that further optimize variable data printing processes. Thanks to our unique approach, different inkjet technologies can be integrated within a single software platform.
I realize that none of this growth would have been possible without the right people around me. Therefore, I would like to thank all former employees for their valuable contributions to DJM’s development. Of course, I also want to express my gratitude to our current employees, with whom we continue building the future of inkjet every single day.
I would also like to thank all our customers for the trust they have placed in us over the past 25 years. A special mention goes to Piet van der Poorten of Drukkerij van der Poorten, my very first customer — and still a valued customer today.
Finally, I would like to thank my family: Aartje, Anneloes, and Dick Jr. Thanks to your unconditional support — and the sacrifices sometimes required for DJM — I have been able to continue pursuing my dream.
